Music Ministry
We provide music at all worship services. Those providing music are very talented with varying styles. Those groups are as follows:
Organist
Phyllis Bailey serves as our organist for the 10:30 am traditional Sanctuary service and also plays for funerals and weddings in our church.
Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir, led by Philip Mann, sings primarily for our 10:30 am worship service. Its purpose is to lead the congregation in singing and to provide special music for the service. We are responsible for a Choral Call to Worship and an Anthem. The Sanctuary Choir is a group of dedicated, loyal people - many of whom have been choir members for many years. Our music is chosen to coincide with the lectionary and theme for that Sunday. Our goal is to help bring a message to the congregation and to lift their spirits. Other services we are responsible for are Christmas Eve and Maundy Thursday.
We invite anyone who would like to sing to join us on Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm.
Gabriel's Bunch
Gabriel's Bunch is an instrumental ensemble that plays regularly for our traditional Sanctuary service. Under the direction of Philip Mann, the group provides a ministry of music and accompanies the hymns on the Sundays they perform. They rehearse Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30 pm and welcome new members at any time.
Morning Glories
The Morning Glories are a trio of three ladies: Judith Webber, Elizabeth Armstrong, and Dee Davis, who sing at our traditional Sanctuary service one Sunday each month.
Praise Band
The Sunday Break Praise Band, led by Ben Hartson, is a group of individuals, vocalists, and instrumentalists who come together to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and the love of God to anyone who will listen. We welcome those who are interested in doing the same to join us.
We play and sing Christian music, mostly contemporary, but sometimes traditional, covering a wide variety of styles. We help lead worship at the 8:45 am Sunday Break service and sometimes at the 10:30 am combined services. We are fortunate sometimes to even take our music outside the walls of the church building to various other worship opportunities.
Memorial Ringers
The Memorial Ringers rehearse under the direction of Mary Anne Cooper on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm. We perform one Sunday a month, usually the third Sunday, at the traditional Sanctuary service. We welcome anyone who is interested in ringing to join us Wednesday evenings. We do welcome suggestions on musical pieces from the congregation.
Joyful Noize
Does your young person love to sing? So do we! Join Joyful Noize, the Youth Choir. We rehearse on Sunday mornings at 10:00 in the Memorial Building second floor in the Joyful Noize Room. We take part in either the Sunday Break or the Traditional service on a regular basis and assist with special music when there is a 5th Sunday of the month. The only requirement is you must be at least in 3rd grade through high school. Join us as we raise our voices in praise. Please feel free to contact Kim Fitzgerald if you have any questions.
